USA Football, AIG and Next Wave Partner To Offer Registration Insurance Policy

Policy will reimburse parents/guardians if child cannot compete due to unforeseen circumstances

Policy will reimburse parents/guardians if child cannot compete due to unforeseen circumstances

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body and a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, has partnered with AIG and Next Wave Insurance Services, LLC “Next Wave,” to offer parents a new, affordable insurance policy called “Registration Saver.”

AIG’s Registration Saver policy reimburses parents or guardians in the event a player is unable to participate in a tackle or flag football season, 7on7 tournaments, camps or clinics due to unforeseen circumstances before or after a season begins.

Registrations Saver encompasses two policies.  The multi-event policy (i.e. a season) covers the registration fees with premium calculated at 7%.  The single event policy cover events such as a tournament or camp and includes all travel related expenses at 6%.  The policy also covers parents and guardians when its league or organization has a “No Refund” policy related to registration costs in addition to situations where an injury sustained by a young athlete or weather impacts a player’s participation.

Among other reasons a child may be unable to play, include sickness or injury, as well as parental or guardian obligations, including active military service, job transfer, pregnancy complications, and others. If a child is unable to play during a season, the policy will reimburse the registration fee on a pro-rated basis.

“We are proud to partner with AIG and Next Wave to offer families this innovative policy,” said USA Football Senior Director of Sponsorship and National Teams GARRETT SHEA. “Parents can gain peace of mind knowing their child’s football registration fees may be reimbursed when situations occur that are out of their control.”

We’re excited about this new partnership with USA Football.  We’ve spent over three years working with AIG to develop this new insurance coverage to address the typical “No Refund” policy impacting families with kids playing all youth sports,” …said Next Wave CEO, JEFF WARD.  “We look forward to offering the policy to all parents investing in non-refundable fees and expenses with no recourse if some unforeseen event occurs.  Now we can cover the refund”.

SportsEngine Introduces New Registration Insurance To Parents And Youth Teams

SPORTSENGINE INTRODUCES NEW REGISTRATION INSURANCE TO PARENTS AND YOUTH TEAMS

HOUSTON – July 11, 2017 – More than 600,000 sports teams, leagues and clubs will have access to “Registration Saver,” a new affordable insurance plan for parents of youth athletes, via a partnership between AIG Travel, Next Wave Insurance Services, LLC and SportsEngine, Inc., a NBC Sports Group company that provides a comprehensive registration platform for youth and amateur sports associations, teams, and clubs.

Registration Saver, also known as Regsaver, offers parents the option to purchase insurance that can cover the registration fees, tournament fees and non-refundable travel costs in the event a player is unable to participate in a sporting season, camp, race or tournament due to a covered unforeseen circumstance.

“We understand that the ‘No Refund’ policy many sports organizations have in place can be frustrating for families and players, especially when any number of things could happen that would prevent an athlete from participating or traveling,” said Jeff Rutledge, CEO, AIG Travel. “Our new plan, Regsaver, provides that extra layer of insurance protection across a broad range of scenarios from a tournament canceled due to weather, to an athlete becoming sick, to the car breaking down on the way to summer camp.”

The benefits of this policy also extend to situations such as a parent being called to active duty military service, preventing their child from making it to a volleyball tournament, for which the insured may receive a full reimbursement. Currently, the policy is available to a select number of sports organizations, but the new partnership will expand the availability of the plan to a broader range of sports, associations and organizations via SportsEngine’s extensive membership base and reach within the youth and amateur sports community.

“Our customers have often asked about ways to implement appropriate refund policies for their programs,” said Justin Kaufenberg, CEO, SportsEngine. “We’re excited to share that Regsaver is now a feature in our Registration product that takes the stress off organizations and gives their member families the option to have peace of mind when it comes to their finances.” Families, athletes and organizations registered with SportsEngine – across nine different sports will have access to this policy as an option through the standard registration process. For athletes and parents, the cost for the single-event policy will be 6 to 7 percent of their registration fees or minimum of $7.00.

Regsaver encompasses two policies:

  • The multi-event policy (i.e. a season) covers registration fees with a premium calculated at 7 percent.
  • The single-event policy covers events, such as a tournament or camp, plus also covers travel-related expenses at a 6 percent premium.

“We are excited to partner with AIG Travel to deliver a true solution to the ‘No Refund’ policy that has been a longtime issue for sports organizations and families,” said Jeff Ward, CEO, Next Wave. “Signing up to play a sport can be expensive, and this policy provides an affordable option to safeguard that investment for families with kids playing sports.”

Time Inc.’s Sports Illustrated Play Teams Up With AIG Travel for Registration Saver

TIME INC.’S SPORTS ILLUSTRATED PLAY
TEAMS UP WITH AIG TRAVEL FOR REGISTRATION SAVER

New Collaboration Provides an Alternative to Nonrefundable Fees for
SI PLAY Parents and League Administrators

Coverage Offered by Next Wave Insurance Services, LLC and AIG Travel
Can Cover Fees Incurred When Planning Youth Sports Seasons

NEW YORK, NY (August TK, 2017) – Time Inc.’s (NYSE: TIME) SPORTS ILLUSTRATED PLAY has teamed up with AIG Travel to offer Registration Saver (Regsaver) to insure fees associated with booking youth sports seasons on the SI PLAY platform, it was announced today. This arrangement between SI PLAY—one of the most widely used and fastest growing software companies in the youth sports industry—and AIG-backed Regsaver provides an alternative to no-refund policies for illness, on- and off-the field injuries, and active military or job transfers, aiding SI PLAY parents, league administrators and more than 17 million users. See more at RegistrationSaver.com/SIPLAY.

SI PLAY CEO Jeff Karp says: “We found that SI PLAY users playing in leagues without refund policies were searching for a solution. SI PLAY decided to fill this gap in the industry with an additional layer of player protection. We naturally turned to Next Wave and AIG Travel, as youth sports-centered providers, to help. We believe that both SI PLAY parents and league administrators will benefit greatly from Regsaver, as it provides insurance coverage for the entirety of a season.”

Under the new arrangement, league administrators will no longer need to worry about offering or processing refunds associated with illness, injury, or job relocation for parents who purchase Regsaver. Next Wave, in partnership with AIG Travel, will directly handle all customer inquiries and claim processing to reimburse parents for covered claims. This alliance will give parents the opportunity to cover their registration fees through a specialized insurance provider.

The Regsaver insurance policy will be offered in tandem with SI PLAY’s seasonal registration process. When registering seasons on the SI PLAY platform, parents will have the option of insuring all of the registration fees for their event. Regsaver will offer coverage for illness, on- and off-the-field injuries, active military service transfers, or job transfers. If a parent files a claim, AIG Travel will handle the inquiry directly, saving league administrators time and hassle.

“From sudden job relocations to off-field injuries, the unexpected can always happen. Regsaver provides an affordable option to safeguard the investment that families make when signing up their children to play sports,” said Jeff Rutledge, CEO, AIG Travel.
